If it helps clarifying, the GBA SP AGS 101 option will be left unmodified, but if I go with the AGB 001, I'll be doing the IPS mod and reshelling it. Most of the questions involve the modded AGB option. I haven't had that much luck finding cheap AGB 001 donor consoles on this end of things.

I like how comfortable the OG is, but that screen man. The SP is the definitive Advanced Gameboy because of the better screen, rechargable battery, it's still comfortable, etc. So there's 2 versions of the GBA SP: The AGS-001 and the AGS-101. So people claim the AGS-101 is better. I understand it has a better screen but.. a frontlight is cool too.

The newest Funnyplaying backlight mod for the original GBA is literally a DSi bottom screen with an adapter board and ribbon cable. It is more nostalgic on a GBA or SP, but backlighting the original GBA is almost necessary and AGS-001 SPs (with the better screen), cost more than twice as much as a DSi unless you find a great deal. My SP's power switch had similiar symptoms with pressure turning off the system. The system would also shut off if you very lighty pushed the power switch towards the off position. I fixed it with an overkill combination of 91% isopropyl alcohol, contact cleaner and some electronic safe canned air. I'm sure just the 91% alcohol itself would fix

Game boy advance sp AGS-001 vs AGS-101? The 001. I use it far more than my 101, it’s just so much easier on the eyes at night and the battery lasts for weeks. The 101 is too bright and the pixel grid/screen door effect hurts my eyes after an hour, and it doesn’t help the screen is 2003-era’s tech lol.
Originally the gba sp exist with 001 screen and some rare ones with 101 screen. Ags 001 is okay. It's visible. But most people want to upgrade that to ips screens. Ags 101 looks good. It's different from ips screens. Some games looks better on the 101, some look better on the ips screen. Bit subjective.

The reason why I can't decide is because I find possible flaws with both of them: *GBA SP has clicky buttons. *GBA SP is kinda cramped to hold. *but GBA SP AGS-101 has an awesome backlit LARGE screen. *I'm worried I'll think the Micro's screen is too small. *I'm worried I'll think the Micro itself is too small to hold.
The GBA SP is a little more comfortable to hold, and you just have the one beautiful screen in front of you.
