Iwould not adjust unless your clearances run tight or are overly loose by +.03-.05 (or higher) over spec assuming no operating problems. The check cost me $50 all-in for new cam cover gaskets, seals and a feeler. Dealer service would have run me $400-500 with parts and area labor rates. Shim adjustments only add more.

After30 minutes cool-down however everything back to normal. This is the THIRD triple 1050 I have known to have this sort of starter trouble, two of mine and one my brother's. (the others were both STSprints). It seems long runs and hot engines deter the starter's willingness.

Re fuel, on the remote chance it is the fuel tank breather blocked, you can try to open gas tank cap next time the stalling happens. If there is vacuum wooshing and difficulty on opening cap -> breather problem. If cap opens fine and there is no difference on idle with cap open -> problem is something else. G.
