Mod says it is compat with 1.43 because the author didn't bother to make it version-specific and put all stuff in the "universal" category, thus it can be visible as not conflicting and make crashes same time.

I don't know which mod it might be but you should verify your files just to make sure it is not a problem with the game. If I decide to load a save in game (not necessarily because I've crashed and caused myself 37% damage or anything) the game will crash. This is the process: Decide to load a save. Press escape. In game menu appears. Click on Load / Save.
'Removing mods' is a 2 stage process, in my experience. Remove the modification's content from your game state first, then saving as a new saved game.. quitting the game, then removing the mods from your mod folder .. then loading that saved game .. Usually works best.
